From what I recall the idea was that Chloe would eventually become a main character and create a main trio like the other series had. The issue was that the head writer decided he liked the Ash and Goh duo dynamic so much that he dropped the idea of adding Chloe, shoved her into the background and did everything possible to give her the bare minimum of screentime and character usage, with her screentime ultimately turning solely into Eeveelution shilling, which itself was probably a mandate from the higher ups. I don't know if that's actually true, but it really feels as though something went on behind the scenes to screw her over and that the writers felt forced to include her, treating her as a cancerous tumor to their boys only show.

Iris Vs Cynthia: Good, keep that. Ash Vs Alain: The problems with this one are: 1) You can’t have Greninja logically, and 2) Certain fans’ actions are probably what backfired from us getting this.
